If your world view consists of white cowboy hats and black cowboy hats you may want to check whether your white cowboy hats aren't just black cowboy hats that have been spray painted white.

Pinned post, about following from multiple addresses

Hi, when I follow someone I usually do this from multiple accounts, with different servers and platforms. This is partially as backup. It’s also because different software has different features. E.g. at the moment of writing I mainly post from my Friendica server, but it doesn’t yet support polls, or account migrations. So I also follow from my Pleroma server, which does notify me someone has migrated.

I also sometimes use platforms that support nomadic identity, that allows my channels on multiple servers to be synced. From software that doesn’t support that, a follow request looks like multiple separate requests from those channels.

It's that day again, the birthday of Stephanie Leonidas!

I choose Crusade in Jeans from my 'Watch for Stephanie' letterboxd list for the birthday rewatch. A long time ago I only knew her sister Georgina Leonidas and knew she was a very talented actress. I saw that her older sister Stephanie was also an actress and thought that even if she only had a fraction of the talent of her younger sister, she would still be worth watching. So I took a punt buying this dvd. That was a very lucky punt... Stephanie turned out to be one of the best actresses ever and I since try to watch everything with her in it!

Later of course she was more obviously brilliant in things like Defiance and Mirrormask... She should be the lead everywhere.

A boy plays and loses a football match with the national team, then drops in on his mother who's building a time machine. He goes back in time trying to win, but ends up in the middle ages and meets love interest girl (winning after all) Jenne in a children's crusade.

The story acknowledges that the crusades as we know them were wrong. This children's crusade is strictly nonviolent.

Today is the birthday (+44 years) of Christina Ricci. I'll be rewatching a film from my 'Watch for Christina' list to celebrate. The top ones I all saw recently and since I quite like to rewatch Sleepy Hollow, that one it is. I think it may also be the first film I saw her in.

The year is 1799. I didn't know they could already record moving images back then. What do you mean, films aren't documentaries? They aren't real?

Happy Birthday Chloë Grace Moretz!

It's her 27th birthday and I'll be celebrating rewatching a recent film of hers, Shadow in the Cloud, from my 4k blu-ray. It's such a powerful performance!

It's all Chloë Grace Moretz... This is such a thrill throughout to get such a masterclass acting performance...

Love the ending and what it says. (But telling would be spoilers)

And she got to do her English accent again, which she so effectively used to trick the director of Hugo to hire her.

I'm doing a rewatch in honour of Dafne Keen's birthday last Thursday. The Acolyte is not out yet and Ana is still not showing anywhere on streaming in my country, so it'll be an episode of His Dark Materials. Episode 1x05 is the one I like to watch. Where Dafne shows that Lyra being brave doesn't mean she isn't scared.

Dafne Keen is such a good actress. A lead character can be made to look cool by writing cool things for them to do, but that's not the trick here. With Dafne's Lyra it's pure acting. It's interacting with other characters, the emotions, the frustration, the drive. And I'm also noticing that she has chemistry with every character she interacts with, not just Will but also Lee, Ma Costa and the leaders of the Gyptians.

Happy Birthday, Lindsay!

Lindsay Armaou has her birthday today and it would be obvious to play her songs as celebration. She was in B*Witched as well as Clayton, and is again in B*Witched now they're performing and recording again. But I don't like to be obvious.

So for the Birthday Rewatch I'm rewatching the film (Two Days in) The Smoke, which is one of her acting jobs. It's a very long time ago I saw this film, so it's about time. 'The Smoke' is a nickname for the city of London.

Lindsay is also singing (and wrote words and music of) the song playing over the credits No smoke without fire.

Happy Birthday Jenna!

Jenna Ortega turns 21 today. I'm going to celebrate by watching some Wednesday and seeing a film of hers (still deciding which). Above photo was posted by her hair stylist Jenny Cho and taken yesterday in Paris.

Happy Birthday Georgina Leonidas!

Yeah, Georgina is born on double the date of her older sister, Stephanie, which makes it easy to remember for me. And I have a calendar on my phone.

I like to rewatch something to mark the occasion, but not much of hers is available on streaming services or on dvd. If you ignore a major film series about a boy wizard that is. So YouTube clips it is. I randomly chose this Basil Brush episode from the playlist I made last year.

Rewatching New Tricks episode 6x03 "Fresh Starts" for the Birthday Rewatch for Georgina Leonidas. In this episode she has a significant guest role which she of course performs rather brilliantly.

I've seen most episodes of this twelve year long series and I think this episode may be the best one. Intricate story, more difficult themes than normally, very emotional. And as I said, Georgina is really great in it.

Watching Luna to celebrate the birthday of Stephanie Leonidas. This film is made by some of the same people that made Mirrormask, which is another great candidate for the birthday rewatch. I chose this one because I can now finally watch my US disc in a player that accepts the region coding. If I remember a theme was a couple mourning after the death of a child, but the events are fantastical and may be based on wishful thinking.

I think the overall word for this film is beautiful. Stephanie is superb.
in reply to Gidi Kroon

Seven years it took between filming this film (2007) and it's eventual release (2014). And us in the rest of the world are still waiting (it's only out in the US and UK I think).

For the Stephanie Leonidas #BirthdayRewatch I'll start my rewatch of season one of Snatch. Hapless London gangsters need the help of Stephanie's character to shift their accidental loot before the mob finds out they have it.

Starting off #DoveWatch in honour of Dove Cameron's 26th birthday today with the film Cloud 9. It's one of the first films she ever made, maybe the first. I hadn't seen it yet, but it was recently broadcast on the Disney Channel.

Finally in #DoveWatch, it's getting late, one of the episodes of season five of Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that Dove Cameron starred in as unhinged assassin Ruby. I'm doing 5x15, but they're all great.

I also like the story of the young Hale. What these male Hydra leaders seem to think the highest honour a female student can get is.
