If your world view consists of white cowboy hats and black cowboy hats you may want to check whether your white cowboy hats aren't just black cowboy hats that have been spray painted white.

Pinned post, about following from multiple addresses

Hi, when I follow someone I usually do this from multiple accounts, with different servers and platforms. This is partially as backup. It’s also because different software has different features. E.g. at the moment of writing I mainly post from my Friendica server, but it doesn’t yet support polls, or account migrations. So I also follow from my Pleroma server, which does notify me someone has migrated.

I also sometimes use platforms that support nomadic identity, that allows my channels on multiple servers to be synced. From software that doesn’t support that, a follow request looks like multiple separate requests from those channels.

I saw Deadpool & Wolverine this evening in the cinema, and the first film this morning to see what it is about. Can't say I'm a fan of the franchise. But Dafne Keen is in this one, so that is enough reason. Her role is small-ish, but not nearly as small as I feared. And if you've seen Logan back in the day (now that is a film I like), there's some nice touches where this film refers to that one.

Dafne does an 'oops did i forget to mention this' when she appears in the trailer of the new Wolverine film.

We can see Dafne Keen in Star Wars The Acolyte from today.

(That's what all the online information and social campaigns said, but when I just checked Disney+ it's not there but will be tomorrow.)

Dafne was on The One Show (BBC) promoting The Acolyte. I caught only the last minutes of it (and the on demand viewing is geoblocked), but the show posted these pictures to prove it. I did learn that Dafne got an especially small light saber because she's short and kept hitting the ground with the normal sized one.

Dafne Keen will executive produce and star in a new film called Night Comes. The film's description looks very interesting, being a horror thriller that is both action and character based, set in a world without rules and gender roles. It is further produced by the people behind Get Out.

deadline.com/2024/05/dafne-kee…

The two actresses playing sisters trying to survive the horror also rather look like they could be sisters. This explains Dafne's Instagram story of yesterday, where she posted an extreme closeup of her with another young woman, but they looked so alike and it was so closeup, that you couldn't tell who's who. Dafne must have known the announcement was coming today and wanted to skirt around the edges of what the embargo would allow...

Dafne Keen as Jecki Lon in The Acolyte can be seen in these first look photos of the character in Entertainment Weekly, together with an interview where Dafne talks about the character, how she played her, and that the horns made hugging anyone on set a safety hazard.

She sounds like a really interesting character and I have full faith that Dafne makes her amazing. The trailer suggested the role is small though, but I hope we get to really explore this character. After all, I'm not a Star Wars person, I would be watching it solely for Dafne.

And Dafne Keen...

Disney+ has announced its newest "Star Wars" series "The Acolyte", set in the final days of the High Republic era, will premiere June 4. The cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Jodie Turner-Smith and Carrie-Anne Moss.

I'm watching Dafne Keen in the film Ana. It's rather difficult to find outside the US, even when you know it is sometimes called The Guardian. But I can confirm that the US blu-ray disc also plays in my European player.

The film is from 2020, so a while ago, and only the second film with Dafne that I get to see. From the trailer it seems interesting. But I would watch films with Dafne anyway...

I really liked it, it isn't the standard story you're expecting from the trailer. Dafne is of course the powerhouse you'd expect.

I like the scene over the end credits, where Dafne/Ana shows how to record a proper advert for Rafa's used car business, after Rafa at the beginning of the film tries (and fails) the record a great advert to get some much needed attention for his business.

I'm doing a rewatch in honour of Dafne Keen's birthday last Thursday. The Acolyte is not out yet and Ana is still not showing anywhere on streaming in my country, so it'll be an episode of His Dark Materials. Episode 1x05 is the one I like to watch. Where Dafne shows that Lyra being brave doesn't mean she isn't scared.

Dafne Keen is such a good actress. A lead character can be made to look cool by writing cool things for them to do, but that's not the trick here. With Dafne's Lyra it's pure acting. It's interacting with other characters, the emotions, the frustration, the drive. And I'm also noticing that she has chemistry with every character she interacts with, not just Will but also Lee, Ma Costa and the leaders of the Gyptians.

Today's Dafne Keen's birthday. Happy Birthday Dafne!

Normally I celebrate by (re)watching something, but due to family things today and work things tomorrow, that's going to be Saturday.

Dafne Keen is going to be in a film called Whistle. She just posted a screenshot of what I think is a Deadline article announcing it, but when I look for it I can't find it (and the rss feed didn't show it up either). So no link, no further details, just the title.

Rewatching His Dark Materials series 3 from my blu-ray that arrived a few days ago. At episode two, so bear on a boat. Lyra is still asleep, but fortunately Dafne Keen has actual acting to do besides lying in bed, also these early episodes.

His Dark Materials series 3 spoilers

The role of the serpent is so weird: wander about for over a season, tell a story and go home. Still sort of beautiful in the end though.

I'm now at the bench, i.e. near the end of the rewatch.

Lyra's world invests more in the upkeep of public infrastructure than our world does.

Happy Birthday Dafne!

Today Dafne Keen turns 18, which means Logan is now 7 years ago. She's a very talented Spanish/British actress who, unlike Lyra, did not sleep through growing up, making the great His Dark Materials.

Ana is not out yet where I live 😢. She's currently filming Star Wars: The Acolyte.

So many stunts she does herself, including some big ones. While 11yo. I think that by then she was already well versed in aerial silks, which is one of her hobbies outside of acting. Photography being a recent other one.
in reply to Gidi Kroon

She's so good. That scene near the end where they're sharing the same dark thoughts. That scene in the middle where she has that outburst at Logan. Actually, I happen to know she improvised that one(*), not on the day but during her final audition. It's on the blu-ray extras and the look on his face of 'what is happening' was very real.

(*) Can you imagine, I say it again, 11 years old, having done your audition, probably acing it because, Dafne, and then turn to all those studio execs and ask: 'Can I do it again? But this time improvise it?'

Since HBO Max has not put His Dark Materials series 3 online yet, despite it being 5 December already, here's a Dafne Keen interview about s3 in W to pass the time.

Starting a rewatch of His Dark Materials, all the way from series one, because series three starts soon. This was the first time I saw Dafne Keen and the reason I watched Logan. I think most people will have seen her in Logan first and be very impressed by her and the intensity of the character, but also seeing her first in His Dark Materials impresses a lot.

Watching it on HBO Max instead of my blu-ray, because views count in this day and age. Production and tv companies really look at views and social media engagement to decide who to hire, what kind of show to commission. Record companies look at number of likes whether to finance a tour. Casting people look at imdb rankings, which are based in part on searches. It's unfair, but to support your faves, engage.

To prepare for series three of His Dark Materials on 5 December, there's this recap of series one and two on Instagram, with quotes from the cast, including Dafne Keen. (I see what she meant about the dirt...)

We'll get season three of His Dark Materials on 5 December, so the interviews start coming. Dafne Keen is interviewed in Marie Claire about finding the character, how the word 'need' was key in season one and the dirt in this season, and about playing the more grown up Lyra this time. Great photo shoot too.

Dafne Keen had said she was filming something big, turns out it's something called 'Star Wars'. So not bigger than His Dark Materials then, I guess.

Leading up to our Sinterklaas present of His Dark Materials season 3 on 5 December, there's this interesting interview with Dafne Keen in Fabric Magazine, with photos by Joseph Sinclair.

I like seeing the scar on Dafne's forehead in photos: it means the photographer didn't go overboard with the photoshopping, or at least knew enough about their subject to know the scar is a well-known feature of hers.

Four important dates:

  • 21 October: The Peripheral on Amazon Prime with Chloë Grace Moretz
  • 23 November: Wednesday on Netflix with Jenna Ortega
  • 5 December: His Dark Materials season three on HBO Max with Dafne Keen
  • 10 February (& 10 March): You season four on Netflix with Amy-leigh Hickman

Dafne Keen looking back to yesterday when it was her 17th birthday, which I missed because I'm an idiot and thought it was today. Well, I've not really booted up yet this year, so what'd you expect.

Happy Birthday for yesterday and also already for next year! Hope to get His Dark Materials S3 soon.
