Already dislike letterboxd, it only allows me to have four favourite films. That's not compatible with how my mind works...

Turns out the recording of a tv programme on a set-top box is adversely affected by blowing a fuse.

A tip if you're visiting a website that does overuse lambdas and cdn's for cropping and downscaling their images, i.e. every commercial website: right click or long tap the photo, select open in new tab, edit url, remove anything that is like 'width' or 'crop' and hit enter.

Example of doing that. The original photo loads as 681x383 pixels. When you edit the url by clicking the pencil icon, you see the parameters ?w=681&h=383&crop=1. Remove that. Click to load that address instead. You'll see that the non-downscaled photo is also on the site and is much larger: 4541x2564 pixels.

Such a waste of storage space for something no-one (but me) ever gets to see. They pay for storage, for the serverless processing and for the cdn to limit the amount of serverless processing.

The international volleyball association seems to think it's perfectly ok to let the men's world championships happen in Russia this year. The Dutch volleyball association has a very weak response of being 'surprised'.

Some say "but what if we can't buy Russian gas anymore?". Actually, let's fully stop dealing with Russia including not buying their gas. It'll be hard, but it's needed. As silver lining we can use the gas price increases to urgently switch to more sustainable energy consumption.

Yeah. This is the level of support for #Ukraine from the rest of the world, in reality.

We're all really really sorry you got swamped by #Russia, but we have to take care of our own too. Like stock markets. Can't be too strong in any reaction. And our own investments. #Putin might also be annoyed.

For those shocked and annoyed about this post, the critique was towards the rest of the world, as in societies, not individuals. Otherwise I would have said "from people around the world", I guess.

We're basically leaving Ukraine alone because it's a bit too awkward to do anything concrete.

If you're in the US, tomorrow Friday the 25th you can see Studio 666 in the cinema. This is a horror comedy with and by the Foo Fighters in which you can also see Jenna Ortega. Should be fun! I'm so jealous.

This is what happens if you only impose weak, token sanctions. Putin takes it as a sign it's ok to continue his war. We should have zero economic dealings with Russia and a country that so flagrantly violates international law, has no place in the UN Security Council.

Putin's invasion of Ukraine seems extremely imminent and I feel so helpless. We should not accept another country to be swept of the map. Any sanctions should be complete and absolute, the Russian regime should be cut off from any international dealings whatsoever. Don't take their gas. Don't include them in any political or economic decision making. Don't do any business at all. And not in that way that it is just a card to play in any future negotiations. We're done with Putin and will not deal with him as long as he's in charge of Russia.

Binged the final (fourth) season of UnREAL this weekend, the series with Shiri Appleby. It was a worthy closing of this amazing show, getting to quite some climax. Two episodes this season directed by Shiri, so that's great too.

There is something really wrong in (Russian) figure skating.

Shared a photo and video on Instagram and as part of my split social media personality wanted to share it on the fediverse too. Photo went ok on Pixelfed, the video was not accepted. Tried Friendica, failed too. Where oh where to upload a video on the fediverse?

Hang on. I have my own Peertube server. Why didn't I think about that...

Anyway, the share-as-remote-self function of Friendica has now also been tested and works fine.

Completed my collection of American Gods blu-rays recently, which is that series where Emily Browning plays 'the dead wife'. Interesting that her character dies season 1, episode 1, yet in season 3 she's still around. As she should be. Starting the rewatch at season 2.

Stuff to discuss, which I won't because of spoilers, but let's just say that 'evil organisation' has some logic flaws in their propaganda which are easy to point out but which this film doesn't. Which makes the film feel like just some light viewing.

As a Jessica Alba fan I have of course seen The Eye, a thriller from a while back (2008). But iMDB alerted me to a small role that Chloë Grace Moretz also plays in this film. This means that without knowing it, I had already seen Chloë even before Kick Ass, which I thought was where I saw her first. Checking it out now, with this extra information.

This "you won't believe her eyes" tagline... very funny. I'll be remembering that along with the "fuller" line out of Dark Angel... no further comment.

It must have been the bandana that made me not recognise her...

I knew Emily Browning gave a mesmerising performance in Sucker Punch, but only today I found out that some mesmerising versions of songs on the soundtrack were sung by her as well. E.g. the hauntingly fitting version of Sweet Dreams (are made of this) is her.
