It's that day again, the birthday of Stephanie Leonidas!

I choose Crusade in Jeans from my 'Watch for Stephanie' letterboxd list for the birthday rewatch. A long time ago I only knew her sister Georgina Leonidas and knew she was a very talented actress. I saw that her older sister Stephanie was also an actress and thought that even if she only had a fraction of the talent of her younger sister, she would still be worth watching. So I took a punt buying this dvd. That was a very lucky punt... Stephanie turned out to be one of the best actresses ever and I since try to watch everything with her in it!

Later of course she was more obviously brilliant in things like Defiance and Mirrormask... She should be the lead everywhere.

A boy plays and loses a football match with the national team, then drops in on his mother who's building a time machine. He goes back in time trying to win, but ends up in the middle ages and meets love interest girl (winning after all) Jenne in a children's crusade.

The story acknowledges that the crusades as we know them were wrong. This children's crusade is strictly nonviolent.

Stephanie Leonidas is filming a new film called Marching Powder. She just posted photos from the set.

IMDb says her film A Very Venice Romance was released last year (it doesn't list as available for me) and 5lbs of Pressure is still to come.

Rewatching Killjoys but starting at season 2, because that is the disc I have and streaming fails yet again. (How can there be so many streaming services and yet when you want to see something none of them have it?)

Anyway, great to see Hannah John-Kamen, even though I don't get to see her introduce her character. And of course Stephanie Leonidas because she's the reason I have this disc.

Stephanie Leonidas posted some photos of an upcoming film of hers on Twitter and Instagram. The posts don't say which film, but she captioned it "Donna", which according to imdb is her character in 5lbs of Pressure.

Stephanie Leonidas being super mysterious as usual, but she finished filming something. That's it, that's the news.

Still waiting for films she made five years and eight years ago to get released outside the UK, or on dvd, so I should probably not get too excited.

This photo she posted may or may not be from the same thing, but this is also about her wrapping on a film project. I don't know which one.

IMDb lists an upcoming project called A Very Venice Romance and that could be this. They say it releases next month already, 30 September.

Watching Luna to celebrate the birthday of Stephanie Leonidas. This film is made by some of the same people that made Mirrormask, which is another great candidate for the birthday rewatch. I chose this one because I can now finally watch my US disc in a player that accepts the region coding. If I remember a theme was a couple mourning after the death of a child, but the events are fantastical and may be based on wishful thinking.

I think the overall word for this film is beautiful. Stephanie is superb.

Seven years it took between filming this film (2007) and it's eventual release (2014). And us in the rest of the world are still waiting (it's only out in the US and UK I think).

Happy Birthday, Stephanie!

I may have some films and shows with Stephanie Leonidas... I think I already know which one I'm going to rewatch tonight.

In the meantime, while the conversion runs and the PC is making a lot of noise to pretend it's busy, the amazing Stephanie Leonidas in Dracula. I've seen this version and as always she's very good. Though as always in stories the female lead is more the object than the subject, even more so in a Dracula story. What's great is that Stephanie really shifts her character when the influence of the count becomes stronger.

This is still early in the film, I keep freeze framing because I'm also making dinner.

Watching Stephanie Leonidas in the episode she filmed in Amsterdam, for Van der Valk, since the dvd arrived.

I've been a fan of Stephanie Leonidas for a long time. Her major projects are Mirrormask, Crusade in Jeans, Luna, Atlantis, Defiance, Snatch and American Gothic. More recently she was in S7 of Endeavour and I'm watching the dvd now.
