Hi, when I follow someone I usually do this from multiple accounts, with different servers and platforms. This is partially as backup. It’s also because different software has different features. E.g. at the moment of writing I mainly post from my Friendica server, but it doesn’t yet support polls, or account migrations. So I also follow from my Pleroma server, which does notify me someone has migrated.
I also sometimes use platforms that support nomadic identity, that allows my channels on multiple servers to be synced. From software that doesn’t support that, a follow request looks like multiple separate requests from those channels.

I live in the Netherlands and occasionally cycle and take photographs. I read and watch sci-fi and fantasy, and am interested in ways to achieve social justice, gender and race equality, sustainable energy use and climate justice.

Feel free to share (boost, repeat) my posts if you want, using whatever share function comes with your platform. I tend to close DMs to only allow people I follow. I check my fediverse accounts only one or a few times a day, typically on my phone or tablet, so I tend to not be part of live discussions.

It's that day again, the birthday of Stephanie Leonidas!
I choose Crusade in Jeans from my 'Watch for Stephanie' letterboxd list for the birthday rewatch. A long time ago I only knew her sister Georgina Leonidas and knew she was a very talented actress. I saw that her older sister Stephanie was also an actress and thought that even if she only had a fraction of the talent of her younger sister, she would still be worth watching. So I took a punt buying this dvd. That was a very lucky punt... Stephanie turned out to be one of the best actresses ever and I since try to watch everything with her in it!
A boy plays and loses a football match with the national team, then drops in on his mother who's building a time machine. He goes back in time trying to win, but ends up in the middle ages and meets love interest girl (winning after all) Jenne in a children's crusade.
The story acknowledges that the crusades as we know them were wrong. This children's crusade is strictly nonviolent.

Rewatching Killjoys but starting at season 2, because that is the disc I have and streaming fails yet again. (How can there be so many streaming services and yet when you want to see something none of them have it?)
Following the season 1 cliffhanger, Dutch, Johnny and D’avin hit the ground running in season 2 to uncover Dutch’s duplicitous and mysterious childhood mentor, Khlyen’s secret agenda.
Though this Dutch character that Hannah John-Kamen plays is immediately clear in this second season as well as she dives head first into a planet's defensive layer without any plan whatsoever. She's the ultimate scifi-cool.

Watching Luna to celebrate the birthday of Stephanie Leonidas. This film is made by some of the same people that made Mirrormask, which is another great candidate for the birthday rewatch. I chose this one because I can now finally watch my US disc in a player that accepts the region coding. If I remember a theme was a couple mourning after the death of a child, but the events are fantastical and may be based on wishful thinking. #StephanieLeonidas #Luna #BirthdayRewatch

In this film the animations, computer graphics and fantasy elements have more of a role than normal, being representations of people's bereavements and thoughts. It's quite beautiful. #Luna
I'm struck by the fullness of how Stephanie plays her character Freya, especially since at least initially she should not be that central to the story. But you immediately feel her, want to meet her, talk to her, a bit like Stephanie's other roles often are real people you'd like to know. There's an interesting thing about this moment in the film that I hope I remember correctly. The director revealed that this isn't an official take, but is Stephanie preparing for another scene which he secretly filmed from around the corner because he liked how it looked when he saw her standing like that and thought it would fit great in the film. And it does.
There are some quick cuts back and forth between the previous scene and the scene she's preparing for here, with these clips mixed in, that's why it works. #StephanieLeonidas #Luna
I slightly misremembered. He says he found this shot between takes, so not secretly filmed as I thought. But it is Stephanie preparing and getting her mind ready for the next take.
Seven years it took between filming this film (2007) and it's eventual release (2014). And us in the rest of the world are still waiting (it's only out in the US and UK I think).
In the meantime, while the conversion runs and the PC is making a lot of noise to pretend it's busy, the amazing Stephanie Leonidas in Dracula. I've seen this version and as always she's very good. Though as always in stories the female lead is more the object than the subject, even more so in a Dracula story. What's great is that Stephanie really shifts her character when the influence of the count becomes stronger. #StephanieLeonidas #Dracula
