Just back from Scream VI:

Wow!

This is by far, by far, the best film of the franchise. Jenna Ortega is amazing. The whole cast play their characters amazingly. The script includes proper characters unlike some horror films. Even if you're not into horror or slashers, this is still a big recommendation from me.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, but unfortunately it's not released Chinese mainland, but I'll keep following it on the internet
in reply to Monoavi

@Monoavi I'm sorry you can't see it yet, hopefully you'll get to see it soon. I was surprised we in the Netherlands got it before the US, usually we are months later.

Doing the final one Wednesday per Wednesday, episode 8 of my fourth run-through. Getting ready for the pre-premiere of Scream VI later this evening. It's a Jenna Ortega day...

Scream VI is released in Dutch cinemas tomorrow, Thursday 9 March. In the US it is released Friday.

So interesting how she has this 'does not compute' reaction when she turns out to be wrong about something. And she is wrong about things surprisingly often for someone coming across as so confident.

I've been watching the Scream films to get ready for the release of Scream VI this week. Now I'm rewatching the fifth film, Scream, the one with Jenna Ortega, from my 4k disc. Last year I saw this film in the cinema and it was my first experience seeing Jenna on the big screen, which is even more impressive.

Of course I'm going to see Scream VI in the cinema too! The US release is this Friday, the Dutch release is one day earlier but our prerelease is this Wednesday already.

Jenna Ortega proves that a horror slasher can also have spot on acting, not just in the attack scenes but also in some heartfelt dialogue.

The You Netflix account posting these two Ellie and Nadia videos side by side... I love both actresses, and characters, and had already noticed their similarities in the makeup of the show (the wise young person that fascinates Joe, who he wants to protect, but who is fundamentally a reflection of the real world rather than Joe's strange business). Further parallels: both Jenna and Amy-Leigh became famous from a tv series with a lot of kids living in a house where there were two adults, but the stories were about the kids (Stuck in the Middle and Tracy Beaker Returns/The Dumping Ground).

You see that Joe is getting older because in season four he needs to take notes to remember it all.

Jenna Ortega never loses her cool while eating increasingly hot spicy wings and while being interviewed. She talks about Wednesday, Tim Burton, Scream, horror in general, writing essays, teen stereotypes in scripts, etc.

I'm at episode 7 of 8 of my one Wednesday per Wednesday rewatch, which I think is my fourth run through of the series. I guess next week will be a double dose of Jenna Ortega.

Everytime at the beginning of the week, Netflix mails me the 'Don't forget to finish Wednesday!' email and I'm like, is it Wednesday already? No? Chill.

This is the episode that opens with the iconic image of Wednesday under the umbrella in the rain, which was used much in the promotion.
in reply to Gidi Kroon

I love how Jenna makes all of Wednesday's movements so perfect. Not just the eyes, which is what maybe stands out most, but also down to the hand movements that are confident and deliberate but also careful and measured. When Wednesday puts something down, or rings a bell, it's very smooth. It's a really interesting thing once you see it.

New Scream VI trailer! With cast quotes.

The film comes out 9 March in my country (10 March in the US), but in many cities here there's a prerelease showing on Wednesday 8 March. Check your listings!

Scream VI is the follow up to last year's Scream, which was actually number 5, and Jenna Ortega plays one of the main characters, Tara Carpenter.

My main question I'm looking for this film to answer when I see it next week, but which I won't be able to talk about, is whether I will need to look out for the seventh installment next year, i.e. does Tara survive?

Jenna Ortega is going to be in a new film! Its title is not announced yet, nor what it is about or even what kind of film it is. Yeah, all the news here...

New interview with Jenna Ortega for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, with her fellow nominees for the SAG Award in her category. Focusing on Wednesday from an actress perspective. I really like seeing how much work and thought she put into it. The awards are handed out tomorrow I think.

Jenna Ortega's film X is out on blu-ray 20 June (24 May for those in the US) and can be preordered now. I loved this so much when I saw it in the cinema! No 4k-disc, sadly. Her film Scream is already out on 4k.

Just back from watching Studio 666 in the cinema. I knew Jenna Ortega would be in it for only a bit, which was true. Impressive how even in these small moments she delivers and makes the experience intense and captivating.

The film X with Jenna Ortega will be released 18 March 2022 in the US. I see it listed in Dutch cinemas for 17 March 2022, but take that with a pinch of salt.

The trailer for #X comes out tomorrow. The trailer for #Studio666 comes out today. Both are films with #JennaOrtega. Also, #Scream (2022) comes out in the US this Friday and #TheFallout on HBO Max on 27 January.

The Fallout will be available on HBO Max from 27 January. I'm so excited to see Jenna Ortega in this film!
#JennaOrtega #TheFallout
in reply to Gidi Kroon

Obviously I won't be able to watch it myself, since all HBO content will get removed in my country at the end of this year, with no mention of when it will be back. But I'm excited about everyone else seeing it. I'll have to wait patiently (or not) a little longer.

The cinema release for Scream (the fifth installment starring Jenna Ortega) is now listed in Dutch cinemas as 20 January. Earlier it had said 13, which would have been weird since it's 14 in the US and our Covid measures run to at least 14 Jan.

I'm going to watch Songbird. There is a small role for Jenna Ortega in this film, which is the reason I got the blu-ray. Even so, I think anytime she isn't the lead in a film, there has been an error in casting. The film itself isn't that well received, but I'll make my own mind up.

Seems to me there were some logic errors to the story, but if you look past that it is a quite nice romantic story. It's also not so much about a pandemic as it is about the loneliness of lockdown. Especially the substory with the wheelchair bound ex-military guy and the aspiring singer highlighted that sense of being disconnected from the rest of the world. Sofia Carson played a really nice Sara in the romance plot, more than a girl that needs saving. I know her from Descendants where she was good too of course.

Sadly Jenna's scene seems to be cut completely, she doesn't appear in the film at all, not even in the Deleted Scenes (of which there are many, almost more than a full film's worth). She did film a scene, there are behind the scenes photographs out there.

Only in the making-of I found out that they filmed it fully on mobile camera's, I didn't notice this at all while watching. These are some kind of purpose built boxes that stream to the cloud for the rest of the team. These may actually remain useful post-pandemic.
