The love triangle already became a love rectangle and now the women have arrived in Venice it's almost certain they will add a fifth corner...

Just like Helena was perceived at the time, incorrectly, as doing only costume dramas, her character Kate is perceived to be of the upper class world and has to belie her working class roots.

Helena's character in this film is more complex and less innocent than you'd expect from the beginning of the film or the type of film. That I really liked. The nude scene is totally gratuitous and not fitting with the style of the film. That I'm more ambivalent about. But overall it's a good, rich, film.
